Be amazed by the historical and cultural heritage of this Central Bosnia town as well as by the natural beauties of the town...
Travnik is a historical fortress city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. First thing you are going to see is the castle of Travnik. The castle dates back to 13th century and it was damaged during many wars that took place in Bosnia, so it was repaired many times. The Ottomans brought mosques, religious schools, roads and water systems to this town. They fortified the medieval fortress and built a mini-city within its high stone walls. For over 150 years, the Sultan's representative in Bosnia – the vizier had his headquarters in this town, attracting both consulates and trade. Travelers visiting Travnik in this era were impressed by the town and called it the European Istanbul and the most oriental town in Bosnia. Also you can visit house of Ivo Andrić, the notable Bosnian writer who won Nobel prize in literature. Free time for coffee and lunch in a restaurant at Plava voda (lit. Blue water).
After Travnik you will visit Vlašić Mountain, which is one of the most popular ski centres of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In spring time, the mountain is a great place to escape from the hot roads and urban jams. You can enjoy fresh mountain air, green vegetation, natural landscapes, animals and clear blue skies all together at the Vlašić mountain. Short break for a snack or drink. Back to Sarajevo.
